ROY, Utah (KUTV) — A decorated World War II veteran has a legacy that lives on, but with a mystery surrounding who should own the memorials of his service. A Roy man found some items that were not his, treasures from a soldier’s service, but he is hoping to return the items to his rightful owner. Jim Thorpe has medals and a flag that are among the highest honors that can be award a soldier, including a Purple Heart, for those wounded in action. Thorpe said he understands the value of the items.
