MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – An ex-veterans home receptionist faces charges of theft and forgery following an investigation involving the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities began investigating information from state auditors about an alleged theft of meal ticket money at the Murfreesboro location of the Tennessee State Veterans Homes in November.
During the course of the investigation, investigators developed information that Marilyn Truss, a former receptionist at the site responsible for the sale of meal tickets, was the alleged person responsible for the missing funds.
A grand jury returned indictments against the 58-year-old woman for one count of theft and one count of forgery earlier this month.
She was booked into the Rutherford County jail on a $50,000 bond Monday.
